Our plan had been worked out in detail.
The exchange took place at sea on Malabaku’s ship.
The duke himself arrived with a selected body of heavily armed guards.

First Sarah was released, then
the Duke’s guards handed a chest full of gold to the Malabaku pirates
and finally our reward to us.

Fir guessed that Goran Besor would rather kill Malabaku
and get rid of us without paying us, but we arranged everything in detail
and it was not possible for him to play with us,
even though his gaze betrayed his vile intentions.

Sarah asked the guards to bring a large, padlocked trunk
in which she said she had her belongings at the time of the kidnapping.
For an instant our eyes met with Malabaku, as in an understanding.
Then we went our separate ways.
