DANGER FROM ABOVE

We are looking at the closed gate of the abbey
when small debris fell on our iron armours
provoking slight metallic noises

We jump back immediately unsheathing our weapons
and looking up: two crows fly in the dark sky
their croaking is like a sinister omen

A false alarm?
The air is filled with expectation

Suddenly a black flock
appears from behind the abbey
and swoops on us

A horde of giant bats
attack us with bites and scratches
yearning for our blood

We are taken by surprise
but in a few time we are ready:
guardians of the ancient abbey, face our weapons!
