about

You are a young Paladin of the Crown, serving in the borderlands, where local conspirators are undermining the stability of Kingdom. A band of bandits wounded and robbed you, then a thick and freezing rain surprised you at dusk. Exhausted, you have found hospitality in a gloomy castle. You immediately perceived a sense of anguish, but the Count had a gentle manner and you needed rest. At dinner, the Count's daughter, a girl pale and emaciated, stared at you almost morbidly in silence... And who is that young man who introduced himself as Abraham Van Helsing, with a suspicious look and a man of few words? "Escape from here as soon as possible" he ordered you when you where alone. Good but late advice: midnight was popped, and the hunt... had begun!

HDK is pleased to release the first English version of the fantasy-horror boardgame THE CASTLE OF TERROR (恐怖の城) released by One Tooth Cat in Japan in the 90s. The boardgame, born on the heels of the success of films such as "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (1992) and "Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles" (1994), had the peculiarity of including a CD with an audio commentary to listen to during the games.

HDK's version of THE CASTLE OF TERROR has been designed to fit our cassette format, but retains all the features and rules of the original game: a simple, yet addictive atmospheric board-game for 2-4 players that reaches the maximum result if played listening to the beautiful soundtrack signed by a mysterious author accredited as BEHOLDUS: 14 tracks of intense vampiric-synth music with Castelvania's vibes and 90s Japanese progressive-rock flavour.
