Streets of Megalopolis

Following a nuclear catastrophe, the Earth has become an immense desert. Day time is short, and sunlight has red and purple glares. Living beings went through mutations due to the radiations, social order has come apart and humans live in what is left of a huge megalopolis, where neons palely lighten the never-ending nights. People have organized small anarchic-capitalist communities and they survive by selling stuff, spare parts and food. There is no official law but only the rules that each group has self-decided.
Max Roguish is a vampire biker. He is a loner and at night he drives at full throttle through the streets of the megalopolis. He survives by drinking fresh blood, but he picks up his preys very carefully: he plans revenge against the humans that killed his family. It is the Omega-Alpha community, that tyrannizes a district of the town with dirty business of drug and prostitution. At night Max wanders the bars under the control of the clan where the worst punks hang out. He can recognize the affiliation to the clan thanks to a tattoo on the neck.

A seguito di una catastrofe atomica, il mondo è diventato un immenso deserto. Il giorno è breve e la luce del sole ha riflessi rossi e porpora. Gli esseri viventi hanno subito mutazioni dovute alle radiazioni, l'ordine sociale si è disgregato e gli uomini vivono in ciò che resta di un'immensa megalopoli, dove le numerose luci al neon illuminano pallidamente le sue lunghe notti. Ciascuno si organizza in piccole comunità anarco-capitalistiche, vendendo oggetti, pezzi di ricambio o cibo. Non vige alcuna legge ufficiale, se non quelle che ciascun gruppo decide di darsi per sè.
Max Roguish è un vampiro-motociclista. E' un solitario, vive di notte e sfreccia a tutto gas con la sua moto per le strade della megalopoli. Per sopravvivere deve nutrirsi di sangue caldo. Ma le sue vittime non sono scelte a caso: egli medita vendetta contro coloro che gli hanno brutalmente ucciso la famiglia. E' la comunità di Omega-Alpha, che spadroneggia in un quartiere della megalopoli coi suoi loschi traffici di droga e prostituzione, guidata dal malvagio Zoro. Max di notte si aggira nei locali sotto il controllo del clan e cerca le sue vittime tra gli sgherri più meschini e corrotti che li frequentano. Come riconosce l'affiliazione al gruppo Omega-Alfa? Grazie a un tatuaggio che questi hanno sul collo.

At night Max Roguish wanders in the Omega-Alpha district looking for his prey. He meets a loutish pimp – called Gush – who is swearing against a young lady called Lin, probably one of his prostitutes. These two enter a pub and Max follows them. Once inside he starts talking with Gush and he finds out that there will be an undercover motorbikes race. The winner will be introduced to Zoro, the boss of the clan, and he will be become his personal drivel and right-hand man.

Max Roguish vaga nella notte nel quartiere Omega-Alpha alla ricerca della sua vittima. Incrocia un rozzo pappone - si chiama Gush - che sta urlando contro una ragazza di nome Lin, probabilmente la sua prostituta. I due entrano in un locale, Max li segue. Dentro inizia a parlare con Gush e viene a sapere di una gara motociclistica clandestina. Il vincitore verrà ricevuto dal boss del clan, Zoro in persona, e diventerà il suo fidato autista e braccio destro. "Un'occasione d'oro per compiere la mia vendetta", pensa Max: per questo si iscrive alla corsa assieme a Gush.

The race happens at night. No rules. At the start Max comes across Gush who stares at him with a peculiar sneer. He can see an odd throne at the top of a little building...it’s Zoro, the chief of Omega-Alpha!
The race starts: the competition is fierce, but Max is able to stay close to the fastest group until the end. Gush is at the head of the race but Max is going to overtake him! At a certain point Max realizes that someone has sabotaged his motorbike and it suddenly switches off. In the outburst Max can cut the way off to Gush and hops on his motorbike, making him jump off from the seat with a jab.

La corsa si svolge di notte, in città. Non ci sono regole. Alla partenza Max incrocia Gush, che lo guarda con un ghigno strano. Riesce a scorgere su un bizzarro trono in cima a un basso edificio, il capo della Omega-Alpha: è Zoro! La gara parte: la competizione è spietata, ma Max riesce a rimanere vicino al gruppo più veloce fino alla fine. Gush è in testa ma quando Max sta per superarlo si accorge che qualcuno ha manomesso la sua moto perché il motore si spegne di colpo. Nello slancio, Max riesce a tagliare la strada a Gush e a saltare sulla moto del suo avversario, sbalzandolo dalla sella con una gomitata. Max taglia il traguardo tra i fischi del clan Omega-Alpha che tifava per Gush.

Hot blood

The race had been fixed and since Max has unexpectedly won, all the participants want to kill him. Max runs away with Lin’s help who jumps on his motorbike and shows him a secret way out to mislead the gang. They run away together towards an abandoned district, there they find Gush hidden in ambush who tries to kill him with a saber. Max avoids the blow and bites Gush in the neck, he sucks his blood and kills him. Lin is not scared by the fact that Max is a vampire and they hug with relief as they survive to this dangerous situation. Max can feel Lin’s vital blood and though he is in love with her, he tells her that his fate is to be alone because anybody who stays close to him is destined to die.

La gara era truccata e, ora che Max ha inaspettatamente vinto, tutti vogliono ucciderlo. Max scappa e, nella fuga, viene aiutato da Lin che salta in sella con lui e gli indica una strada segreta per seminare gli sgherri della banda. Insieme fuggono verso un quartiere abbandonato, dove trovano Gush in agguato, che cerca di uccidere Max colpendolo con una sciabola. Max evita il colpo e azzanna al collo Gush, uccidendolo mentre gli succhia il sangue. Lin, per nulla spaventata dopo aver scoperto che Max è un vampiro, si avvicina e i due si abbracciano dopo il pericolo appena scampato. Max percepisce il sangue caldo di Lin e, nonostante provi affetto per lei, le dice che il suo destino è di stare solo, perché chi gli sta troppo vicino finisce per morire.

Though the race was fixed, Max wins and Zoro wants to meet him and give him the prize. Max is advised through a sprayed message on a building: a meeting with Zoro has been arranged. Talking to Lin, Max understands that this is a trap but anyway he decides to see Zoro to kill him. He accepts and at midnight he goes to the meeting on the roof of a building situated in the district of Omega-Alpha, from there they can see the whole town.

Max, nonostante la gara fosse truccata, ha vinto e ora Zoro vuole conoscerlo e premiarlo. Max viene informato da un messaggio sprayato su un edificio: è stato fissato un incontro con Zoro. Parlando con Lin, Max capisce che si tratta di una trappola ma vuole ugualmente vedere Zoro per ucciderlo. Accetta e alla mezzanotte si reca sul luogo dell'appuntamento, il tetto di un edificio abbandonato nel quartiere Omega-Alpha, da dove si può vedere tutta la città...

Zorro is surrounded by tens of his soldiers. He starts talking in a gentle tone and shows the motorbike that Max has left after the race. He tells him to take it back and use it to serve Omega-Alpha. But in the instant Max gets closer to motorbike, it explodes. Max is pushed away from the roof and falls down from the building. Zoro’s people laugh noisy in triumph.

Zoro compare circondato da decine dei suoi sgherri. Il boss inizia a parlare, si mostra cordiale e indica a Max la sua moto, abbandonata dopo la corsa. Gli dice di riprendersela e usarla per servire il clan Omega-Alpha. Ma quando Max si avvicina, improvvisamente, la moto esplode: Max viene scaraventato giù dal tetto dell'edificio e cade nel vuoto. Gli sgherri di Zoro scoppiano in una fragorosa risata ed esultano.

Tears in the night

|
It is night. Lin silently cries on the balcony of her miserable flat from where she watches the city. Just a few hundred meters further Zoro goes back to his headquarter after the celebrations with his soldiers. He is drunk and staggers slowly with a smiling grind on his face. He greets the two bodyguards and jumps on the bed of his sumptuous room on the top floor of an ex-hotel. Though he is stunned by alcohol, he realizes that he is not alone. He wants to shout to call the guards but a blade on his neck blocks him. It is Max, he is alive! Zoro groans “You should be already dead!” and Max replies “right, but now it’s your turn!”.
Max sinks his teeth in Zoro’s neck where he has the Omega-Alpha tattoo. While Max sucks the blood, bitter tears appear on his cheeks that mix together with Zoro’s blood. Tears for the accomplished revenge, tears for the radiations that made him a vampire, tears for his family who will never come back.

E' notte. Lin piange silenziosamente osservando la città dal balcone dello squallido monolocale dove vive. Qualche centinaia di metri più in là, Zoro sta rientrando al suo quartier generale dopo i bagordi di una festa con i suoi sgherri. Mezzo ubriaco, barcolla lentamente con un sorriso ebete e, salutate le due guardie del corpo, si getta sul letto della sua sontuosa camera all'ultimo piano di un ex-hotel. Ma - nonostante lo stordimento dell'alcol - capisce di non essere solo. Sta per gridare e avvertire le guardie fuori dalla stanza ma una lama al collo gli gela il sangue. E' Max...è vivo! "Tu dovevi essere morto!" geme Zoro con un filo di voce. "Già, e ora è il tuo turno!" risponde Max affondando i suoi denti nel collo taurino di Zoro proprio in corrispondenza del tatuaggio Omega-Alpha.
E mentre si nutre, sul volto di Max compaiono delle lacrime amare, che si mischiano al sangue di Zoro. Lacrime di gioia per la vendetta compiuta, lacrime amare per le radiazioni che lo hanno reso un vampiro, lacrime di malinconia per la sua famiglia che non tornerà.
