Dr. Angst (the eminent scholar prefers to remain anonymous under this pseudonym) is a well-known parapsychologist in the metapsychic community of Eastern Europe, an honorary member of the International Society of Transpersonal Psychology and the founder of the Applied Muzakology Study Centre. His field of research is hypnosis: specifically, experimentation with sound patterns designed to amplify negative psychic states, such as fear and anxiety, for cathartic purposes.

Dr. Angst's research has led him to the use of old computer sound chips, as their frequencies are particularly effective for this type of hypnosis. The passages contained in this tape are a first result of Dr. Angst's psychotherapeutic research: the sound fragments are imagined as the rooms of a castle of horrors where the hidden fears and threats in the listener’s sub-consciousness can be brought out and faced.

Every room in the castle will cause a micro-trauma to the listener, induced to confront their own obsessions. As Dr. Angst puts it, “The whole listening experience is like the exploration of a dark castle—the labyrinth of the mind; it's up to the listener to find the exit.”

What we like about dungeon-synth is the freedom to experiment with different influences and different styles, to convey the minimalist feeling of adventure and mystery that we love.

This album is an example of experimentation and audacity in the sign of dungeon-synth, more precisely in its chiptune declination.
No one indeed had ever dared to mix two distant worlds like chiptune and... JAZZ! The meeting carried out by the mysterious Doctor Angst is perhaps the first experiment carried out in this direction. The effect is alienating, neurasthenic, hallucinogenic! It seems to be played by a drunken sound chip, a corrupted code, an old snapped 8-bit computer.

This album is also a tribute to a game that made us lose sleep over when we were children: the disturbing "Castle of Doctor Creep" for Commodore 64, a minimalist video game set in a terrible maze of rooms, fraught with puzzles and monstrous pixeled threats.
