HDK 42 † Tunguska

Tunguska 10:14

On the morning of June 30, 1908, the largest and most mysterious explosion on earth took place. When the epicenter of the explosion was found in a remote region of Siberia, near the river Tunguska Petrosa, the witnesses saw over 25 kilometers of devastation. The huge trees of the taiga lay on the ground like toothpicks. Everything was destroyed...
What was the cause of the immense explosion would have totally wiped out cities as London or New York? Was it an asteroid from the large interplanetary spaces? Or it was, thirty-seven years before the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs, an atomic explosion of mysterious origins?
Nobody has certainties about this. The question we should ask ourselves is: can this happen again? What is certain is that we know so little about the immeasurable secrets of the cosmos and the threats to our planet that are hidden in the folds of the galaxies...

The Swedes Robin Klockerman (synth, programming, effects - already in the HDK catalog with "Novaya Zemlya" as Tsar Bomb) and Petter Lindman (guitar, effects) surprise us with an amazing album, where the style of the Berlin-school kosmische musik (Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Manuel Göttsching) is declined in 4 tracks, deep and austere, mixed with minimal-synth and post-punk suggestions.
"Tunguska" evokes infinite landscapes of emotional desolation and the melancholy echo of the interstellar abysses. It's an intense, spiritual, fulfilling voyage experience in a Cosmic Siberia, a space-time paradox where events of hundred years ago seem to be collocated in a strange, distant future.
